Apple iPhone

In the past few hours there have been multiple reports where the iPhone 4 has jumped the midnight queue and been sold to consumers hours before launch. There is yet another 6 hours until the midnight launch however some lucky people seem to have shopped around and found the iPhone 4 to be sold in some stores. Some stories also confirm that stores are asking for them back. Woops. That was a mistake.

Thankfully some of the reports have sent pictures to confirm their purchases. Hit the break for a photo. (more...)

The popular Hero of Sparta by Gameloft has just released its first sequel to the original game which was subject to various awards. Argos, a spartan, has finally reached the shores of his homeland, Sparta.   Escaping Hade's kingdom was only just the beginning.   Now Argos will be forced to face the wrath of the Gods and the consequences of his actions. Hero of Sparta closely resembles God of War for PS3 and PSP and it does a great job in providing gameplay which is just as fun. Although the original game was slightly repetitive the new sequel promises some more action. Improved functions including interaction with the environment, a new fighting mechanism and some brand new graphics. If you enjoyed the first one, there's no reason why you won't love this one:

Just a quick update, Josh Presseisen of Crescent Moon Games has just given me word that their ever-popular RPG action adventure Ravensword: The Fallen King, will be on sale for the whole of tomorrow for just under a dollar.  It hit the AppStore with huge success, which seems to have urged them to create even more great titles to arrive this year. There's no particular reason for this sale, but even if there was, at $0.99 the game is a real steal.  Be sure to check back for any news on their upcoming projects such as Rimelands, Aralon, and Ultra Kid.

During the big change to the new look, William and I have been pretty busy sorting out what needs changing, what to to add and what to discard in order to give you readers a sleeker and much simpler viewing experience.  In between all of that, there have been a few vital releases that you should all note down.  We haven't been able to cover them on release day, so here's our catch-up: (more...)

Another developer I had the chance to catch up with was one of the creators of N.Y.Zombies, a 3D first-person shooter than had impressed thousands of iPhone users worldwide.  They reached the top ten charts a number of times with it's gruesome graphics for the hordes of zombies introduced in the game.  Whilst the controls was a slight let-down for some players, everything else seemed to cover it up.

They're now creating another game and this time it's got nothing to with horror.  They're on a mission to complete a dual-stick shooter, Bug Heroes, which they also claim is a RPG-styled tie-in.  Some artwork can be found to the right of what the models should look like in-game.

Just over two months ago had Konami released their take on a full football title for the iPhone, to get in on the action just after the World Cup had started.  It accompanied EA, Gameloft and Exient to join the list of the football titles available for the iPhone. It didn't seem to impress many users - for the most part however, animations, content and the original 'Pro Evolution Soccer' feel applied to satisfy many gamers out there.   iPhone 3G owners and older generations suffered severe lagging at several points during the game, especially with a zoomed-out view.  Too much was going on to allow the game to run smoothly.  Konami have finally heard us, addressing this issue in the latest update. Another addition the game brings the manual player switch - finally.  Throughout any football game, manually switching players gives you total control of the game.  Konami have decided that in order to do this, you can simply tap an empty area on-screen. Name: Zombie Infection HD

Developer: Gameloft

Price: $6.99 (Appstore)

Overall Rating4.5 / 5

As most of us know, Resident Evil is a popular horror video game. Even though Capcom has ported a version of Resident Evil 4 to iPad, most players weren't satisfied with the under-par experience. Gameloft has now ported their critically acclaimed clone of Resident Evil 5 to iPad, Zombie Infection HD.

In Zombie Infection HD, you are one of two on-site reporters, Damien Sharpe and Alex Rayne. You're building a story about terrible working conditions at Auricorp, a company in South America. When you arrive, you discover that the workers and some civilians have been turned into various types of zombies.

A quest to write a story on Auricorp and find your missing brother quickly turns into a desperate fight for your life, with tidbits of the story unveiled at every corner. Work your way through 12 levels, looking over the shoulder of your character, similar to the Resident Evil series. After your complete the story levels in any of the three difficulty modes, you unlock Survival mode. In this mode, you are situated in a junkyard venue and must survive as long as possible. The two characters from Story mode are available for play, as well as a bonus character. Zombie Infection also features Gameloft Live integration, and includes tons of achievements and leaderboards for Survival.

Name: Let's Create!  Pottery HD

Developer: Infinite Dreams

Price: $4.99 (Appstore)

Overall Rating5 / 5

Sticky, slimy, smooth clay slips around in circles, guided by your hands. It molds beneath your hands, and stretches outwards as you separate your hands. We all know this simply isn't possible on the iPad. But, Infinite Dreams brings you the next best thing: Let's Create! Pottery HD.

In Let's Create! Pottery HD, making pottery becomes your hobby. As you become more well known through the game's "email" system with computers, people offer you cash for specific pottery designs they want. Along with making specific pots, you can make any sort of pottery you want, then auction it off in-game. With the cash you earn from both sources, you can buy colors and patterns in the in-game shop to decorate your creations.
Let's Create! Pottery practically looks real. The wheel and pot are rendered in 3D, and you can tilt to see more angles of the pot. Behind every scene is a blurred forest background that looks amazing in the game. The menus are all white, and look great. They're easy to navigate and very simple. A common element of the menu is a sliding menu at the top of the screen with rounded squares showing colors and patterns to choose from. If you're trying to replicate a pot on the wheel, you can also tap the corner of the picture provided in an email, and it pops out. (more...)

One of the most awesome games out on the AppStore just got better.  Popcap have their latest update for Plants vs. Zombies approved by Apple, and it's now available exclusively to your iPhone and iPod touch.  Despite the game being available in the iPad counterpart, the large developers seem to have ignored the update for it at the moment.  We're not sure if they plan to bring the 12 new available achievements to the iPad just as yet, but with the new update you can on your iPhone. The game was originally available on the PC until PopCap made the clever decision to apply it to the iPhone's touchscreen.  It worked out to be a great game overall, maintaining it's spot in the charts for several weeks.  If you still haven't got the game, we suggest that you buy it immediately:
