Developer: Toco Games

Price: $1.99 (Appstore)

Overall Rating: 4 / 5

I can see why we can feel fascinated with interacting with virtual things. When I was a little kid I loved this one computer which screen acted as a mouse, I believe a very primitive version of a touch screen. Nowadays, with a better version of it, we really can interact with stuff in screen, touching it, dragging it, squishing it, and that’s exactly what you do in MagniFusion. MagniFusion is a simple merging game, in which you add 2 balls of the same size and color to create one of the same color but in a bigger size. (more...)

Posted by Victor Fernandez on 18th August, 2010

Name: Tangled 2

Developer: Billy Lavoie

Price: $0.99 (Appstore)

Overall Rating: 3 / 5

If you were a gamer back when controllers had cables, or well, even if you have lots of electronics connected close to each other, you’ve experience it: the tangling. No matter how tidy you are, somehow, some cables will end up tangled. And the bigger the mess, the more challenging it will be to untangle them, so it is not too far-fetched to see the act of untangling things becoming a game. (more...)

‘Matchsticks’ Review

Posted by Victor Fernandez on 18th August, 2010

Name: Matchsticks

Developer: Linbin Yu

Price: $1.99 (Appstore)

Overall Rating: 3 / 5

They always tell us to not play with fire. But that’s fire, nobody said anything about matchsticks; that being said, most of us can remember that *funny* uncle that tried to trick us and challenge us while playing with matchsticks whenever we were truly bored. For those that never had that uncle, they created this app. Matchsticks is no different than that ages old game, where someone would challenge you to change a set of matchsticks into something different, moving only a limited number of them. The ever so popular Hero of Sparta II was released not too long ago and received great feedback from the whole of the world. The second installation of the Hero of Sparta series continues the story of Argos, where he finally returns to the shores of his homelands. Now the popular title has once again revved up its already impressive graphics to play the host of a even more spectacular HD version of the game for your big screen-iPad. The game should play exactly the same way as the iPhone version, one of the only huge differences being the customizable controls.   Check out our review here if you're not sure whether or not to buy Gameloft's interpretation of God of War for iPad.  It's currently available in a few countries, and should hit your store when you reach August 19th.

A few months ago Halfbrick Studios had made their mark on the AppStore with their ever-famous Fruit Ninja.  With such awesome gameplay and the simplest idea, as well as such fine graphics, they hit huge success and later moved onto creating an iPad counterpart - which was even better.  They're back again, with one of their crazy trailers shown to the public a few weeks ago, to show off their latest addition - Monster Dash. It will deliver just as much fun as Fruit Ninja served you.   The team behind the game can't seem to stay away from a tint of comedy with their titles, which is never a bad thing.   This starts with the name of the main character - Barry Steakfries - who runs across multiple worlds shooting and battling hoards of zombies. Gaming on an iOS AppleTV will be huge and Apple should focus on it. Using a controller that features a multitouch pad complete with gyroscope, compass and accelerometer that connects by Bluetooth to the TV will be the main form of input. An iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad could be used for even more precise control with a virtual joystick. (more...)

Price: $2.99 (Appstore)

Overall Rating: 4.5 / 5

Back in the early days of the App Store, when fart apps held reign, and there was no such thing as Fruit Ninja or a device that was "just a big iPod touch,", a knight arose to conquer the throne. This brave warrior, iShoot, failed at first, but then succeeded with the help of his smaller counterpart, iShoot lite. Very recently, after eight months of hard work by Ethan Nicholas, the developer behind the awesome turn-based tank game that is iShoot, brings us the next generation of the iShoot empire. (more...)

Name: Chop Chop Soccer

Developer: Gamerizon

Price: Currently $0.99 (Appstore)

Overall Rating: 4 / 5

Gamerizon has made their mark on the AppStore for being one of the most intuitive developers, creating games that only require one finger.  There are hundreds of amazing games that consist of an on-screen joystick and a few action buttons shoved to the right, but that only leads to your two thumbs taking up half the screen space.  Chop Chop Tennis was the developers' first take on a 3D sports game for the iPhone. That turned out to be quite a success. Whilst some disliked the controls, many loved the reminiscing 'Wii Sports' feeling.  The fourth game in the Chop Chop series comes Chop Chop Soccer.  It uses some pretty simple controls, but do they work as well as Gamerizon expected them to?  Read on to find out. - This game is also available for iPad.   It plays exactly the same way so if you're looking to play the iPad HD version, carry on reading this review - (more...)
