Name: Rimelands: Hammer of Thor

Developer: Crescent Moon Games

Price: $4.99(App Store)

I was too young at the time to play the original "paper and pen" RPGs that used only books, dice and imagination.  After this era subsided developers that made RPGs, replaced the dices with complex formulas to calculate chances of hitting, dodging, as well as all other skills and attributes. Fortunately for us, Rimelands tries to give to us a perfect mixture of the two, creating a unique experience. But is that enough to make this title a successful one? Or is this game more ambitious than they had hoped for? (more...)

Name: Creatures - THE FIRST BLOOD

Developer: Playus Soft

Price: $0.99 (Appstore)

Dual Stick shooters seem to be one of the more popular genres roaming the Appstore today. With Minigore, Guerilla Bob and many others taking the front stage. 'Creatures - THE FIRST BLOOD' seems to be one of those titles that have remained in the backlight and unrightfully so. It features great futuristic graphics and sleek responsive dual shooting controls. What more could you ask for?

‘Crimson Gem Saga’ Review

Posted by John Birch on 30th August, 2010

Name: Crimson Gem Saga

Developer: Nate Games

Price: $9.99 (AppStore)

Overall Rating:   4.5 / 5

RPGs have always been rather popular on the App Store, but it always seemed that Action RPG's took priority over the more traditional turn-based RPG. As of late, though, it seems to be the other way around, with more large-scale turn-based RPG's being released, like Final Fantasy I and II, Chaos Rings, and now Crimson Gem Saga, a port of a formerly PSP exclusive RPG, receiving praise from critics. ‘Simplenote’ Review

Price: Free (AppStore)

I’ve been using Evernote ever since I first bought my iPhone and since then have had no problems with it. It syncs well and even has a desktop client, which makes taking notes and jotting ideas down a breeze. However since then, I’ve been typing quite a few (over 1000) notes and as a result was warned that if I do not upgrade to the premium package for £2.99/month I would not be able to upload any more notes to the server. Since then, I’ve been rummaging the AppStore in search of an application that provided the same functionality as Evernote, but without the upload limit...

‘Stick Golf’ Review

Posted by Talal Amjad on 19th August, 2010

Name: Stick Golf

Developer: Noodlecake Games

Price: $0.99 (AppStore)

[rating:4/5]

It may just be me or something, but I find golf ridiculously boring and to be honest, a complete waste of time.  That was until, I played Stick Golf.  With its unique, yet simple controls and heart-warming graphics Stick Golf never ceases to amaze me! Ever since I heard about it from a friend, I’ve been hooked and playing the levels over and over again to beat my high score.

You swing your way through 108 holes in twelve unique courses, including one on the Moon and even one inside a volcano! Graphics-wise, the game matches its name with you being a stick figure and the landscape depicting a typical golf course – water, bunker & lava... The main objective of the game is to land the ball in the hole, so basically golf, in par or less. Now, for each hole, the par score is different based upon the difficulty of the overall hole. ‘MotoGP 2010′ Review

Posted by Novaro Thompson on 19th August, 2010

Name: MotoGP 2010

Developer: I-Play

Price: $3.99(App Store)

Overall Rating:

The App Store may be considered by some to be a very well rounded area when it comes to racing games. There are games available for the hardcore and the casual, for the car junkie and for the regular speeder. However if there is one definitive genre of racing games that is considerably lacking on the iPhone; that is the motorbike racing genre. The release of MotoGP 2010 however has changed this, whether for the good or bad though is yet to be seen but it should be noted that this is already your best choice because of the lack of other options. Let's begin with the good, if you are a real true and blue MotoGP fan then you've found the right game because MotoGP 2010 offers you everything you need to relive the 2010 season. You have all 17 riders that were in the competition, all 18 tracks that they raced on and 10 official different bikes. Honestly this is quite an exceptional feat and it would be hard for any other competing game to surpass this level when it comes to features. so if you always dream about using Valentino Rossi to win the Grand Prix World Championships on the iPhone then this is your chance. ‘Earth Defender’ Review

Posted by William Ye on 19th August, 2010

Name: Earth Defender

Developer: Anima Entertainment (Published by Fishlabs)

Price: $0.99 (Appstore Link)

Overall Rating: 4 / 5

It's been a while since I played a good shooter game and 'Earth Defender' has done a good job to entertain me. It's true that sometimes the best defence is a good offence and this game shows off the saying in a brilliant way. In this game you play by defending earth from hordes of aliens by placing bombs. It isn't everyday that aliens attack earth so here is a great time to have some fun. (more...)

Until now, SRPG's - or Strategy RPG's - have been quite rare if not completely nonexistant on the App Store. There have been many fantastic SRPG's for consoles, like the Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics series, and with the release of The War of Eustrath, iPhone gamers can now experience the same combination of Turn Based Strategy and RPG games in one awesome package. Price: $2.99 (Appstore)

Overall Rating: 4.5 / 5

Skiing is a dangerous sport. I mean, we see it on TV and it looks pretty cool, but actually doing it is (as always) a lot more difficult. I’ve never done it myself, but I can safely assume that moving at highspeed in the snow while dodging stuff can be pretty risky; so just imagine how it’d be if you couldn’t see the path ahead of you. Well, that’s the scenario Solipskier’s character faces; will it be a fun trip? Well, read on.

Price: $1.99 (Appstore)

Overall Rating: 4 / 5

I can see why we can feel fascinated with interacting with virtual things. When I was a little kid I loved this one computer which screen acted as a mouse, I believe a very primitive version of a touch screen. Nowadays, with a better version of it, we really can interact with stuff in screen, touching it, dragging it, squishing it, and that’s exactly what you do in MagniFusion. MagniFusion is a simple merging game, in which you add 2 balls of the same size and color to create one of the same color but in a bigger size. (more...)
