Hands-On With ‘Solomon’s Boneyard’ – A ‘Solomon’s Keep’ Prequel

Apple has increased the 3G App-download limit from 10MB to 20MB. Before this increase, any iPhone user wishing to purchase an application over 10MB had to first connect to a WiFi hotspot. Anymore, the normal app weighs in at just about 15MB, with advanced games hitting 100-200MB, and much more in some cases.

This move should help developers who wish to expand their app (by making it more graphically intense, or add more functionality) but don’t want to break the 10MB download limit (since they wouldn’t be able to reach any iPhone’s downloading over 3G) improve their apps.
In addition to the App Store limit being upped, the iTunes Store has as well. Now, you can download songs, video, podcast, and audiobooks that are 20MB and under.
Speculation over the reason for this change has come up with one logical answer; the impending release of Apple’s iPad device, which, with its larger screen, powerful hardware, and 3G data connection (on some models), will definitely make apps designed for it more complicated, so the extra 10MB is a welcome addition to developers looking to make an iPad-specific version of an app, or create an iPad app that will feature a more advanced interface, bigger images, and better graphics.
